Dear Kenwood Families,
This past week we had our first Veteran’s day lunch and we were joined by many Veterans during almost all of our lunch periods. We are thankful for their service and enjoyed having them join us at Kenwood. This past Monday and Tuesday gave us a glimpse of winter weather. We are grateful to our Kenwood PTA and Kenwood families who have generously donated 75 coats and over 250 hats/gloves! This will go a long way to helping our students. As we prepare for the winter weather, please be sure that your students are prepared for winter weather and bring their coats, hats and gloves. We will certainly do our best to help those who do not have these items especially given our recent donations. As a reminder, the temperature for indoor recess is when the temperature is below 20 degrees Fahrenheit with the wind chill. If temperatures are above 20 degrees Fahrenheit students will go outside for recess.
Happy Friday! We celebrated our Star Students for the month of November in the past few weeks. We have recently expanded our categories for our Kenwood Star students in an effort to recognize the many qualities of our Star students. Kenwood Star students can be recognized for Citizenship, Academics, Most Improved and Conduct awards. The Star students for the month of November are:
University of Illinois, Women’s Basketball Game, November 18th
On Tuesday, November 18th, our 2nd, 3rd, 4th and 5th grade students will be attending the University of Illinois Women’s Basketball game at the State Farm Center. We plan to depart from Kenwood between 9:30 and 10:00am and we will return between 1 and 2pm. Your child’s teacher will be sharing any pertinent details related to this trip.
