Learning about bugs

Lego day

January 30, 2026

Dear Kenwood Families,

I hope this finds you doing well and staying warm after all of the frigid winter weather this week! We’ve been busy at Kenwood with our 100 days of school coming up this Monday and all of the ways to celebrate this with our Kindergarten students! February is Black History Month, a time to celebrate the achievements, contributions, and history of Black individuals. Throughout the month, students will participate in activities that promote learning, respect, and appreciation for diversity. We also look forward to celebrating (NAAPID) National African American Parent Involvement Day on February 10th, and we welcome all families to join us for lunch.

Nature Club

Mr. Dreste’s class was recently featured in the national publication,EdWeek, which highlighted Mr. Dreste’s introduction and exploration of bugs in the classroom. This semester, Mr. Dreste and Mr. Vic/Schiro are leading the after school Nature club for 5th grade students who signed up. The Nature Club provides hands-on activities with nature including gardening, science activities and environmental stewardship. The Nature club has also played a big role in maintaining and planting in our courtyard gardens.
