BHM Assembly

February 27th, 2026

Dear Kenwood Families,

We had a wonderful Black History Month assembly yesterday! Dr. Logan, our guest presenter, shared excerpts from his book, Protecting the Dream, with both our K-2 and 3-5 students. We are grateful to the City of Champaign and Tracy Parsons for donating a copy of Dr. Logan’s book to every classroom. Champaign Police Chief Tyler also joined us and shared an inspiring message about the vital role educators played in his life and their importance in the  lives of our students. The assembly also featured two spiritual songs performed by our 2nd-grade students. Thank you to our families who attended and enjoyed the assembly with us!

Last night, our 3rd-grade teachers hosted their grade-level night, and families had a great time playing board games.

This weekend, we wish our Battle of the Books team, coached by Mrs. Lehr and Mrs. Denzer, the best of luck as they compete at the Champaign Public Library! Their first competition is scheduled for 1:30 PM. Next week, we celebrate National School Social Worker week and celebrate Mrs. Schultz. We also have our early dismissal at 12:50pm on Monday.Good luck to our Battle of the Books team this weekend as they compete at the Champaign Public Library!
