Dear Kenwood Families,
Happy Friday! This week we celebrated our first full week of school for all of our students and we have had a great start to the school year. One of the areas that our teachers have focused on during the first few days have been on building relationships with our students and setting routines. One area of the day that the relationship building happens is during our morning meetings where students and teachers greet each other, participate in a sharing activity and get a preview of the day ahead. The morning meeting has helped students to begin their day on a positive note. This week we have begun a focus on our core curriculum. We also began some of our initial testing in Reading and Math. This coming week, we will be continuing with our beginning of the year assessments with MAP (Reading and Math) for 3rd, 4th and 5th grade students. We also have some newer assessments for 1st and 2nd grade that will also measure students' understanding in Math and Reading. These beginning of the year assessments guide our instruction.
Open House, Thursday, August 27th
We invite you to our Open House next Thursday from 6-7pm at Kenwood. We look forward to seeing you at Kenwood.
