Dear Kenwood Families,
¡Feliz viernes! Following up on yesterday’s update, our district maintenance team successfully resolved the issues with our HVAC system yesterday and we were able to learn in a comfortable environment. Additionally, our students engaged in a school-wide writing activity this week to support our ongoing instructional focus. During classroom visits, many students proudly shared their writing pieces with me to display their skills.
Hispanic Heritage Month
¡Bienvenidos y feliz Mes de la Herencia Hispana! This week, Hispanic Heritage month began on Tuesday, Sept 15th and continues through Oct 15th.. We are excited to celebrate Hispanic Heritage Month with our students with a special assembly on Oct. 7th. We have some special guests with student performances.
Monday, September 21: School Improvement Day (No School for Students)
There will be no school for students on Monday, September 21st due to a District School Improvement Day. Our teachers will be engaged in professional learning to enhance classroom instruction.
Erin’s Law Instruction
Kenwood School is coordinating with classroom teachers and the Rape Advocacy, Counseling and Education Services (RACES) to provide instruction for Erin's Law this school year. This law requires schools to teach students age-appropriate techniques to recognize child sexual abuse and to tell a trusted adult.
We will be using RACES to support our teaching of Erin’s Law. This program teaches children important personal safety skills and helps maintain a safe and supportive learning environment for everyone.
Opt-Out Option:
If you DO NOT want your child to participate in these Erin's Law lessons, please contact your child's teacher by Friday, Sept 25th. All students will participate unless we receive contact from a parent.
